Helmet Sources
Officers are required to provide their own equipment when working movie jobs. This page is intended to provide officers with information about sources for police motorcycle helmets. Please share your sources by emailing hal@pacificnet.net so they may be included here.
HELMETS:
Through a special arrangement with the company, retired LAPD officers working movie jobs may purchase Shoei RJ-Air LE motor helmets at a significantly reduced price. This deal is unique to LAPD retired officers (you may be asked to show your ID card) and subject to non-disclosure. For further information, please call Hal at 818 974-4401.
It is also possible to purchase used helmets from LAPD Supply Division when they are available. Availability varies. Some officers have found a very serviceable used helmet on their first visit, while others have returned time after time failing to find a used helmet that fit them.
Some of the uniform stores also offer motorcycle helmets. Click on this link to show a chart of California dealers who carry the LAPD approved helmet. Contact your local uniform store to inquire regarding availability.
